Candidate: Rick Watson

I'm Rick Watson and I'm asking for your support for Franklin County Tax Collector. My wife, Candy, and I have proudly called Franklin County home for 26 wonderful years. As you may know, I was appointed to the position in April of 2017 when an unexpected vacancy occurred. While I have only served in office a for short while, I am beyond proud of the many great things we have accomplished. For example, we are now offering the Concealed Weapon License in the Carrabelle Office. The response to this new offering has been overwhelmingly positive! Also, beginning on March 19, driver licenses will finally be offered at the Apalachicola office. This means residents of Franklin County will no longer have to travel to Gulf County or Wakulla County to get their licenses! Finally, in partnership with the Franklin County Superintendent of Schools, the Franklin Education Foundation-FL, and numerous local sponsors, we initiated the first annual Kids Tag Art competition. This event gave all 5th graders in the county a chance to compete for small cash prizes in a contest to draw their very own specialty license plate. Net proceeds from the competition will be given to the schools for the purchase of art supplies. Needless to say, I'm very proud of the strong customer service the Tax Collector's Office provides.
