Candidate: Barbara Sanders

I graduated from FSU law school in 1984. I clerked for a federal judge until 1986 when I went to teach at the FSU Law School. In 1988, I opened my office in Apalachicola. I have tried over 50 cases and I have briefed over 50 appeals, with oral arguments before the Florida Supreme Court, the First District Court of Appeal, and Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. In 1999, I earned board certification in Criminal Law -- Trial. I served on the Federal Judicial Nominating Committee in 1996 and chaired the Tallahassee Magistrate Judge Merit Selection Panel in 2011. Appointed in 1996, I continue to serve on the Northern District of Florida Bench and Bar Advisory Committee. I served on the Florida Bar Grievance Committee from 2011 to 2014 and chaired the committee in 2014. I moved to Franklin County in 1979. I worked for one year at Carrabelle School as the librarian. I have been a member of the St. George Island Civic Club since 1981 and was president in 1991 and 1997. Along with my husband, W.K. Sanders, I have been involved with the SGI Volunteer Fire Department and the schools. My daughter, Claire Teat, graduated from Apalachicola High School and FSU, and my grandson, Dalton, attends the ABC School. I want to use my education, my experience, and my legal skills to serve the people of Franklin County as a fair and impartial County Judge. Thank you for your consideration.
