Candidate's Statement

If you know Dave Ivankovic at all, you know that his family, and providing for them the brightest future possible right here in Charlotte County, is where his heart is. Dave was born in 1972 to Agatha and Luka Ivankovic in Kingston, NY. Eight years later the Ivankovic family moved to Port Orange, Florida. Dave returned to New York and earned his degree in Business from SUNY Ulster in 1994. He met the love of his life Toni at college and they got married; soon after they were blessed with the births of their daughter, Amanda, and son, Adrian. Dave started in the insurance industry in Upstate New York in 1995. Shortly after, he returned to the Daytona area where he continued his career. In 1998 Dave was presented with an opportunity to put his insurance knowledge and ambition to use with a local insurance agency in Charlotte County. In 2003, Dave and Toni again answered the call of opportunity and started Dynamic Insurance Agency, now on Mary Street in downtown Punta Gorda, with the goal of providing the greatest value for both personal and business insurance for the citizens of our community. In addition to operating their business, Dave has supported and contributed to many youth organizations. He was a member of the Charlotte Harbor Rotary Club prior to starting his business and is a Paul Harris Fellow. Dave coached basketball at the Harold Avenue Recreation Center for nine years, and coached soccer for the YMCA. His wife Toni has been coaching soccer locally for the past 10 years, and has been the coach of the girls’ soccer team at Charlotte High School for the past 6 years. Dave and Toni’s daughter Amanda is a graduate of Charlotte High School and is now attending Edison State College as a junior in the teaching program. Their son Adrian is a senior at Charlotte High School and is dual enrolled in college classes. Dave and his family live in Central Port Charlotte on the Ackerman Waterway. Through operating his business, coaching and attending many high school activities, Dave has gained a unique perspective of Charlotte County and the issues we face on a daily basis. It’s our future, and the future of Charlotte County that we all worry about. It’s that future that concerns Dave, too. He aims to put his local business experience and knowledge to work in bringing the community together to solve its problems. A consummate optimist, Dave sees great potential for our community. He will work on getting Murdock Village back on the tax roll. “I want to increase our tax base by growing our local economy so we can lessen the burden on our residents.” He believes this can all be done by applying a common sense approach. Dave is tired of all the rhetoric. He feels it’s time to get involved and do something about it, because after all, Charlotte County is his family’s home. As a businessman, Dave knows the only way to meet challenges is to face them head on. He is results driven and believes in being proactive so that we can take control of our future. “I am confident that our community will flourish and I will work diligently to maximize our tax dollars.” Dave knows the good people of Charlotte County — he lives, works, plays and has raised his family here. “I think we define ourselves by how we deal with adversity. When Hurricane Charley struck, in a time of chaos and turmoil, our community shined as we all pitched in and helped one another. We were united!” Dave will use his leadership experience and knowledge to make decisions toward the goal of making Charlotte County the thriving and beautiful place in which our children, grandchildren and parents will want to live and call home. “It’s not a campaign . . . it’s a promise!”
