Linda Ivell's Experience
When I became President of the Florida Federation of Republican Women the group needed focus as a group, I was selected by the members to provide that, and get clubs all over the state working together. It was not an easy job. I travelled all over the state at my own expense to accomplish that goal.
During the same period of time Florida was responsible for hosting the National Federation of Republican Women's convention. This required significant fundraising. I worked with the Republican Party of Florida and the State Realtor Association along with others enabling our convention to operate completely in the black, while maintaining low and value conscious pricing for the members who attended from all over the country.
I was recently recruited to run for President of one of the largest Republican Women's Clubs in the area to provide a more inclusive leadership. Our slate of officers won with 80% of the club's vote.
I am experienced at getting Republican Groups refocused on their goals.
When I first returned from Washington, DC I also worked on the original Save Our Homes effort. Our goal was to network with legislators all over the state to encourage their support of a limit to increases in property taxes for full time residents in our state. As the housing boom in Florida increased, so did prices. Therefore property taxes increased. The legislation that resulted from our efforts limited increases in value (and) taxes to 3%, enabling families and retirees on a fixed income to remain in their homes.
