Hi, I’m David — you can call me Dave — and I have two kids, ages 5 and 6, in the Manatee County school system, and I have another little one who is 2 at home.
My wife, Jacquelyn, and I have planted our roots here in Manatee County, and there are a few things that are concerning us in regards to education. I have a background in law and policy, and spent a lot of time in school myself.
First, I stand firmly against mask mandates, and even more firmly against critical race theory.
I think one of the most important functions of the School Board is managing its budget. Regarding fiscal policy, I advocate for low taxes, reduced government spending, and minimal government debt. I also advocate for oxford commas.
Regarding social policy, I believe in traditional values, but I do not advocate for those values because I also believe in personal freedom.
We need to return to the basics: reading, writing, and arithmetic, but we also need to remain tech conscious — our classrooms, both in person and online, should be outfitted with the best, and that does not mean the most expensive.
I also think online learning is the way of the future, so we ought to trailblaze in that field — it can be done at a low cost, and students can help build it.
If you have any questions like, “Where did you go to school?” (Cooley Law) or “What are your thoughts on the budget?” Give me a call!
