Candidate: Armando Rodriguez

Armando Rodriguez is currently a proud resident of Port Saint Lucie, Florida. Originally from New York, Armando moved to Port Saint Lucie over 17 years ago and has since become a homeowner of the Torino section and an active member of the community. Armando Rodriguez fervently serves in his community as a member of the Torino Residential Committee, the San Juan Festival, and the Treasure Coast International Film Festival. In addition, he is also a member of the Treasure Coast Hispanic American Club and a Committee Member of the P.R.A.F.H.A (Puerto Rican Association for Hispanic Affairs). Armando Rodriguez is a former Police Officer in the NYPD, LEO in Florida serving his community in two different states. Armando is a family man who loves spending time with his son who has autism. He is a volunteer of the Centennial High School Special Olympics Track and Field Team and is passionate about providing more resources for families, residents, and youth who are limited in the community. Armando would like to offer workshops of volunteer services for the youth to get acclimated to the community and job market after high school. In addition, he would like to increase family and youth based events. Armando believes that by doing this a stronger connection is built with the community, therefore positively affecting the quality of life which will boost real estate sales and small business activity, which in turn will increase the demand to join our community. Armando’s run for Councilman originated from the Torino Detox proposed in 2013. He noticed a widespread of inordinate increases in property taxes and wasteful spending. Armando is concerned with these issues that progressively hurt the city and has experience as a civil servant to execute a beneficial plan of action to raise the city from its damages. He aims to lower property taxes, sustain small businesses, and grow the city’s revenue through the increase of non­resident visitation. One of his goals is to reshape Port Saint Lucie to become a sustainable economic base while increasing financial resources from the outside. Moreover, Armando is passionate about the quality of life in Port Saint Lucie. He seeks to increase the optics of how the city looks as well as how it is maintained. He would like to set a standard for the council that is more transparent and cooperative with its residents and small businesses. Furthermore, Armando would like to make Port Saint Lucie a destination city that is welcoming and attractive, providing a diverse environment and experience for its residents as well as visitors. Armando Rodriguez is an advocate of many issues not only involving District #2 but the city and county as a whole. He promotes building a better economic foundation and increasing the quality of life. He is passionate about the youth of this city and would like to provide resources and opportunities for them to grow and become better members of society. Armando is ready to be the eyes, ears, and voice of the community as he has been for the last three years to strike lasting change and restore the community as a whole.
