Candidate: Danny Nugent

Hello, I’m Daniel “Danny” Nugent and I am seeking re-election as your City Commissioner for District 1. For the past 16 years I have been honored to serve as your City Commissioner, Mayor, and Vice-Mayor. I am a 1980 graduate of Bradford High School and received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida. I work for the Florida Department of Corrections as a Senior Probation Officer and am also a Chief Warrant Officer with the Florida Army National Guard. My wife Missy and I have four children, Chelsea (John) Waters, Kayla (Matt) Pinkston, Ethan, and Connor, as well as five grandchildren.

During my tenure, I have worked closely with other City Commissioners and City of Starke personnel on many great projects. We have worked to repair roads, make improvements to the electrical systems throughout the city, and restructure the pension system for City of Starke employees. As a commissioner, I am working on projects to improve our city water systems by building new water treatment plant and making improvements to our city recreation facilities. Being a Starke native, I understand the importance of our local businesses and strive to bring in new businesses for our community. I currently represent the City of Starke in the Northeast Florida League of Cities where I serve as President and have also served on many boards within the city. I have always strived to do what is best for the City of Starke and its residents. If re-elected, I will continue to work for you, the citizens of Starke.
