Taylor III believes that Port St. Lucie can truly be the “City for all Ages”. A third generation St. Lucie County resident Taylor has lived his 27 years in a county he knows and loves. Growing up in this community James’ passion for public service started at a young age and he has encompassed those values in his life. James is very involved in the local community, currently he serves as the St. Lucie County Friends of Safespace Treasurer. Yearly, he supports the agency by participating in the “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” campaign. He has been a member of the Westside Baptist Church for 15 years and regularly volunteers on their technical team. Taylor is also a member of the St. Lucie Housing Authority and Finance Committee. Taylor’s educational background, an Associate in Arts Degree from Indian River State College and a Business Administration Degree in Management & Marketing from Florida Atlantic University, gives him a distinctive blend of a creative and structured approach to any task at hand. Born in Fort Pierce James understands the need to combine efforts and retain better relationships with Fort Piece and St. Lucie County. “There’s no reason why with only two municipalities that we can’t work together for our residents on a daily basis. What benefits Fort Pierce and the County, benefits Port St. Lucie”. James believes in this community’s potential for greatness, for all generations. Even though Port St. Lucie is a large community it has a small town feel which is a great strength that James will work to maintain. He will strive for a more responsible economic development that reaches beyond retail opportunities. Taylor believes the growth of the city has to be managed properly in order for it to be sustainable. In part of making these goals tangible James plans to help strengthen the city’s relationship with the youth by heightening their involvement in the community. “We call ourselves the ‘City for All Ages’ it’s time we started acting like it”.
