Candidate: Maureen "Mo" Baird

Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird believes Experience Matters in Elections!

Mo is a Citrus County resident since 1971. She has two children, Meaggen who resides in Manhattan, NY and Jeremy who resides in Knoxville, TN with his wife and two children. 

Mo graduated from Inverness Middle School and Citrus High School. She attended CFCC and PHCC.  She is a Certified Election Registration Administrator from both the Election Center through Auburn University and the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections through Florida State University. 

Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird was 25 years old when starting her career in elections. In November of 1985 she was hired full time.  In 1997 Susan Gill, current Supervisor of Elections took office and Mo remained on staff and is currently the Operations Manager for Ms. Gill.  Susan Gill has endorsed Ms. Baird stating in the Chronicle, “Absolutely I endorse her, look at what she’s done here.”

In 1985, Maureen ‘Mo’ Baird was in charge of voter registration and election workers.  Over time she had the privilege and mastered the responsibilities to include the following:

Voter Registration - Precinct Building and Early Vote Site Rentals - GIS Mapping - ADA Compliance  & Surveys for all Voting Sites - Public Records Request - Vote by Mail - Petition Verification - List Maintenance Activities - Liaison Department of State/Bureau of Voting Systems Certification - Vendor Liaison - Candidate Qualifying and Financing - Poll Worker Hiring/Training/Payroll - Warehouse Management and Organization - Tabulation of the Election - Ballot Layout/Proofing/Ordering - Election Night Reporting - Implementation of our first and current Website Design, two Voter Registration Systems, two Tabulation Systems, and Cyber/Physical Security.

Mo is an active church member in Citrus County since 1989. She attends Christ Community Church in Lecanto, Florida. Mo has served and chaired the Board of the Directors for Life Choice Care Center pregnancy center for 15 years. She has served at the Florida Baptist Children’s Home as a Caring Parent. Mo Welcomed children into her home to care for them allowing parents the time to overcome hardships. Mo loves God, her precious family and serving others. 

Fun facts about Mo – She was a certified EMT for over 10 years, a certified Nurses Aid and a Phlebotomist. She worked at Citrus Memorial Hospital and Citrus Community Blood Bank.  Mo worked for Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Youth Camp for children in the Ocala National Forest. She was 13 years old when she got her first job at an Inverness Day Care taking care of all the babies in the nursery.
