Candidate: Michael Daugherty

Michael Daugherty is a lifelong resident of Manatee County. He and his wife, Teresa, have been married 47 years and have three children and six grandchildren.  Mike began working in his family’s business (Daugherty Plumbing) in 1970 and continues to work in the plumbing trade today. Mike is a born-again Christian, an ordained deacon, and North River Church of Parrish had its beginnings in his living room.  He is currently assisting the construction of North River Church’s permanent building on Fort Hamer Road in Parrish.  Mike is an contributing member of Manatee County and volunteers with many organizations including: the American Cancer Society, president of Ducks Unlimited for two years, Rotary, church youth groups, Parrish Chili Cook-Off, and fund raisers for many elementary and high schools including the Duette Historic one-room schoolhouse.  Mike was appointed to the advisory board that began Duette Preserve in northeastern Manatee County. The Daugherty family was awarded the Crosswaite Sportsman of the year by the Bradenton Herald in 1994.  Mike has served our community, personally and professionally, and looks forward to continuing to serve this community on the Manatee County Mosquito Control Board, Group 2.

Mike is an avid outdoors Mike and has witnessed the challenges that Manatee County has faced with its growing population.  He takes pride in his community and believes that we must be progressive in safeguarding the health and safety of Manatee County’s citizens, while being fiscally conservative, as well as protecting its natural resources for many generations to come.
