Candidate's Statement

Matt Bower, is a lifelong resident of West Bradenton. He attended Bayshore High School, and volunteered to serve his country in the United States Army. After 7 years of service and over 15 medals and accommodations, Matt came back home to help build and operated a local law office. A few years ago, Matt started his own branchn on West Cortez for Edwards Jones as a Financial Advisor. Matt also served four years on Manatee County's Planning Commission and earned a reputation of asking the hard questions and representing the people of this community. Matt will take this same course of action representing District 3.

Matt is married, lives in San Remo Shores off Cortez Road. His passions include, fishing, golfing and surfing. He is dedicated to protecting our environment. A true conservative, Matt will keep taxes low wihile ensuring the community receives the services it requires.

Matt has witnessed firsthand the changes in Manatee County, and shares your concerns about the increasing traffic from developments approved without the required infrastructure. Matt has stood up to the developers at public hearings and, having withnessed the lack of concern of those currently serving, decided the only way to protect his community was to run for County Commissioner. But it is not all about just traffic, its also about our ailing infrastructure and the destruction of our wetlands and impacts to our Coastal Waters and estuaries.

As a commissioner, Matt will represent us and be able to guide decisions that would be in the best interest of Manatee County. How people run for office and who they accept contributions from sets the tone for the way they will serve and, more importantly, who they will serve. Matt has decided to not accept any campaign donations from developers. Developers gather together and decide who will be serving their interest, then proceed to raise excessive donations, including funding those political PACs. They often use several companies they control using a loophole to exceed individual campaign contributions. To them its a business decision, but to the rest of us it comes at the expense of what we value.

A vote for Matt and you will insure your voice, your concerns are represented. Today more than anytime before, who represents you does matter. You can learn more at www.voteformattbower.com
