..........   WHY I AM RUNNING FOR THE IRC HOSPITAL DISTRICT   ..........

There are several reasons that I want to serve as a Trustee, but I will focus on three:

1)   My 25 years at United Way was significantly focused on community service activities here in Indian River County.  Though different from public service, there are many areas of the Hospital District's mission and operations that overlap with the work I was so actively involved in during that time.  As an example – several of the Hospital District’s funded agencies were also funded and monitored by United Way during my time as CEO.

2)   One of the primary focus areas for the Hospital District is the behavioral/mental health of all citizens of IRC.  This is an area of great personal interest and importance to me.  As one of the founders and a longtime board member of the Mental Health Collaborative (a key Hospital District funded agency), I bring awareness and experience in this critical health area.

3)   Public service is something that I have privately pondered over the years.  Following my retirement nineteen months ago, I was encouraged by several community leaders, including some current District Trustees, to seek this position and to stay engaged on behalf of all county residents.  Self-reflection brought me to the following conclusion:  I am ready … I am willing … and I am able to continue serving the citizens of IRC as a District Trustee.

Thank you for your consideration.
