Candidate: Bruce Green

Bruce Green cares deeply about Indian River County and its future.  For over 100 years, five generations of the Green family have called Indian River County their home.  Bruce is a proud graduate of the School District of Indian River County.  He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering Technology from the University of Central Florida and a Master of Science degree in Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.

Bruce’s career as an educator began as a volunteer in his mother’s 3rd grade classroom at Fellsmere Elementary.  His mother, Brenda Green, was a lifelong educator with a love and passion for teaching children and was the catalyst that set him on his path to public service.

Bruce began his professional career by teaching multiple grade levels at Fellsmere Elementary.  His desire to help improve the education of all students led to many leadership roles, which provided him with a vast array of experiences within all areas of the School District.  Some of these experiences include managing multiple departments with large and complex budgets, helping develop data-driven school improvement plans, supervising and supporting school principals, implementing districtwide technology initiatives, and developing a variety of accountability systems, all while building strong relationships with people every step of the way.

With over 20 years of experience working for the School District, he has a deep understanding and connection to all facets of public education.  Bruce has always been known as a problem-solver who gets the job done by using a common-sense approach to analyzing problems and developing solutions.

Due to his aging father’s declining health, Bruce made the difficult decision in 2018 to pursue other employment that allowed him the flexibility to spend valuable time caring for his dad.  Bruce is currently the General Manager for Premier Landscape Solutions.  While helping to grow this local, family-owned business, this position has also allowed him to meet and serve residents from all over the county.  

Bruce has been married for over 27 years to his wife Julie.  Julie was also born and raised in Indian River County and has been an educator in the District for over 27 years.  They have identical twin boys, Mark and David, who are both graduates of the School District.

Bruce’s love of teaching, passion for public education, and desire to continue to serve the residents of Indian River County are what drive him to seek election for Indian River School Board Member, District 1.
