Candidate's Statement

Elizabeth (Beth) Siebert’s family has been a fixture of Indian River County for over 100 years serving our community in many different capacities.  Her father, Willard (Bunny) Siebert, served on the Board of County Commission from 1972-1980, serving one year as Chairman of the Board.  His greatest legacy to this community is the Alma Lee Loy bridge and expanding the recreation department. Her grandparents, Willard and Eve Siebert, started the first theater company in Indian River County in the 1940s, which grew into The Vero Beach Theater Guild.  Willard Siebert Sr. served as the first President while Eve served on the Sunshine Therapy Center.  Her uncle, Charles Henry Walters, served on the Indian River Hospital Board.  Beth’s mother, Joni Siebert, was a Sunday school teacher, president of the local PTA and was instrumental in fundraising to air condition Beachland Elementary School.

Beth is a graduate of Tabernacle Baptist and was concurrently enrolled at Indian River Community College.  Beth holds a Bachelor’s from Union Institute and a Master’s Degree in Science from Florida State University.  She was a federal grant researcher for the Office of Special Education Programs and the United States Department of Education.  Beth was adjunct faculty at Florida State University and Indian River Community College.

Beth is a small business owner and spends her time running pop-up art shows to bolster the local economy by giving artists a venue to sell their art and donating a portion of the proceeds to local charities.  She believes that it 's every citizen’s duty to be involved and knowledgeable about their elected officials and the offices they serve, ensuring that everyone has fair representation.

Beth is running for Board of County Commission, District #2, because she believes in public service.  Once elected, she'll have a platform to bring fresh ideas to address community issues. As your County Commissioner, Beth will-

·      restore accountability and transparency in local

·      reducing property taxes, diversify economic development beyond tourism

·      preserving Indian River County’s people, property and water

·      partner with local law enforcement to combat drug and drug related crimes         problems

·      tackle Indian River County’s overdose crisis

·      increase adult literacy

·      advocate for services for the disabled and those suffering from mental               health issues

Beth's experience and knowledge in local matters and lifelong family service history, will be a positive and valuable addition to the Board of County Commission.

She'll provide an option to the long-term incumbent.  To learn more about Beth, please visit her website at votesiebert4cc2.com.
