Candidate's Statement

Albert Einstein once stated, “The only source of knowledge is experience.” I have decided to post a snapshot of my background and accomplishments over the past 42 years. One can easily see the creative pursuits, particularly those of music and theatre, that are incorporated throughout these activities. This artistic sense has contributed to my open-mindedness, approachability, and communication skills – all useful for a public servant who must make important decisions. Besides my extensive (and eclectic) teaching experience, I am also an entrepreneur, successfully running three separate businesses, all while continuing to be a full-time teacher.

I am also proud of my family. Mom and dad still live in the Knoxville area. Dad is a retired paper salesman and mom is a retired homemaker. I am married to Kim Stuart, who is among other things, the pianist at First Baptist Church of Inverness, and has also been the accompanist for both CHS and LMS over the past eight years.  Kim and I dated briefly as juniors in high school in Tennessee and re-discovered each other 27 years later. We celebrate 13 years of marriage this summer. My step-son, Kevan, lives with his family in Knoxville.  My step-daughter, Jill, is about to complete her B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education at UCF.  She and her husband, Devonte, live in Orlando.  Both Jill and my son, Phillip, attended Citrus County schools from elementary through high school, were members of the CHS marching band, and graduated in 2013 and 2005, respectively. Phil works as a Communications Officer in Citrus’ 911 Dispatch Facility.

I am not, by nature, an in-your-face type of person. I do want it known, however, that I am a thinker and a doer, an educator and an artist. And you, dear voter, would be hard-pressed to find someone more well-rounded as Tim Stuart to represent District 5 on the Citrus County School Board.
