Candidate's Statement

Hello Friends, First and foremost, I would like to thank you very much for taking the time to allow me to introduce myself and my beautiful family! My name is Michael Lyle Vasher and I am running for Charlotte County School Board\'s District 3 Chair! My wife Alena and I have three spectacular children; our daughter Madison, who is 12 years-old and is entering the seventh grade at L.A. Ainger Middle School, where I serve on the P.T.O., our son Curtis, who 6 years-old and is entering the first grade at Vineland Elementary, where I serve on the P.T.O., S.A.C. (Student Advisory Committee) and the Lighthouse School Committee, and our little son Mitchell, who is 2 years old and will be attending Vineland Elementary in three years to come! I am very fortunate and likewise could not run for the School Board without the support of my family and more so, the great support I receive from my wonderful wife, Alena, who is one of the Medical Staff Coordinators and the Executive Assistant to the Chief Medical Officer at Tidewell Hospice. As for myself, I have been raised in the Englewood, Florida area since 1983. My father, Dr. Lyle G. Vasher, and my mother, Dolores A. Vasher, moved here to start my father\'s Podiatry practice. My Charlotte County Public Schools education began in 1987 as a fourth grader at Vineland Elementary when it was opened. I then attended L.A. Ainger Middle School and then graduated from Lemon Bay High School in 1996 as my class’ Salutatorian! I then went on to the University of Miami where I graduated in the top of my class in December of 1999. My U.M. Degree is a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree with a major in International Finance and Marketing. While attending U.M. and thereafter, I have had the great fortune of working in various marketing, management, operational management, sales and negotiation roles for my previous employers. I became an Eagle Scout of the Boy Scouts of America when I was 14 years-old and then earned three Palms of Honor, served as President of the Englewood Young Professionals for 3 years, was the Co-Chairman of the 2011 Englewood “Relay For Life” and was a Board Member of the Charlotte County Young Professionals for the last 3 1/2 years. I am excited to currently be the Chairman of the 2013 “Veterans’ Gala!” Currently, I am the Founder and Co-Owner of Hollow Point Solutions, LLC of which owns and operates a “Local-To-Local” business directory and events website named, www.GoTownAround.com. GoTownAround.com was a “brainchild” of mine to help expose all of the great businesses, things to do and events in local communities and at the same time to organize the chaos that the major search engines have left us with when you are seeking out this kind of information. I am proud to say that GoTownAround.com has been “live” now for over two years, has been a great success, continues to grow and has informed many people, like yourself, of the great things our community has to offer. Since I am so involved personally and through my company locally, I have a great understanding of how our community works and what I feel needs to take place to make it an even better one. I bring with me years of business experience, of which has included being on the management team that helped oversee a multi-million dollar marina facility in Englewood, FL, that serves as a foundation for me in my endeavor to help our Charlotte County School District perform on a higher level, from our administration down to our students, and uncover funding sources that will be of a benefit to my drive of putting more necessary learning tools in our classrooms. I will fight to keep the arts, civics and physical education in our schools and I will fight to get our Lottery money back into our classrooms where it was intended to be. Our children and students are competing in an ever-changing and fast-paced “global” environment. I am on the fore-front of these changes and will prove to be a powerful leader and voice for our schools! So please, don\'t let our children and community down, be sure to vote for me, Michael Lyle Vasher, for Charlotte County School Board’s District 3 Chair when you take advantage of your right to vote as a citizen of the United States of America! Thank You For Your Time And In-Advance For Your Support In The Primary Election, August 14th, 2012!
