Candidate: Paul A Stamoulis

BIO OF PAUL A. STAMOULIS Paul A. Stamoulis was born in New York City, NY in 1952. He moved to New Jersey at the age of ten. In 1975 he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ. Paul attended Drake University School of Law, in Des Moines, Iowa. Upon graduation in 1983, he took and passed the bar exam in three states, Iowa, New Jersey and Florida. He practiced law for twenty-two years in New Jersey including appointment as a Municipal Court Judge in Hazlet, NJ for two three-year terms. The Judge\'s in-laws moved to Port Charlotte in 1975. In 1976 they purchased The Bay Vista restaurant in Englewood. Among his accomplishments, Paul takes pride in being one of the original founders of the Dormition of the Mother of God Church (Kimisis Tis Theotokou), in Holmdel, NJ. He served as President of the church for five years during which approximately one million dollars was raised for the construction of a Community Center/Gym/Classroom complex. Membership has grown to over 1,000, represented by the approximately 600 families that currently attend. Paul presently serves as Director on the Board of the Charlotte County Historical Society, the Punta Gorda Historical Society, and the Cultural Center of Charlotte County. He is a former Director of the Englewood Gardens Homeowner\'s Association. Other endeavors include being a \"Proud Supporter\" event coordinator for the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Charlotte County Homeless Coalition, a Sunday School Teacher, and a \"Big Brother\" in the Suncoast Big Brothers/Big Sisters program. He is a member of the Chambers of Commerce of Charlotte County, Punta Gorda and Englewood, the Charlotte County, Punta Gorda and Lemon Bay Historical Societies, the South Manasota Key Association, the East Englewood Homeowner\'s Association, the Lemon Bay Conservancy, and the Veterans Motor Car Club of America. He is a graduate of the Charlotte County Sheriff\'s Department Citizen\'s Police Academy. Paul has been invited to speak as guest lecturer and speaker at numerous public events and ceremonies, including serving as \"Keynote Speaker\" to the Raritan High School graduating class of 1992, and the Murdock Middle School National Junior Honor Society in 2012. Our Supervisor is a member of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections and has served on its Bylaws and Advertising Committees. In 2011, he was elected by the other Supervisors of Election to serve on the important State Legislative Committee to represent District 8 composed of Manatee, Sarasota, Hardee, DeSoto, Highlands, Glades, and Charlotte counties. He is also a member of the Voting Center Task Force which is studying their implementation as a means of saving money. On February 22, 2011 our Supervisor received \"Special Qualifications\" status through certification by the Division of Elections, after attending 12 regional certification classes, passing a written exam, and conducting two successful elections. On June 22, 2011, Paul was granted Level I Certification Status by the Florida Continuing Education Program, one of 15 Supervisors out of 67 statewide to have been so recognized, and on September 29, 2011, he received Level II Certification. Paul has also been involved in the Ad Hoc Committee to Incorporate Englewood. He has served as a guest speaker on the subject of municipal incorporation before the \"Leadership Englewood\" program in 2008 and 2009. Also in 2009, he was awarded the Charlotte County Public School\'s \"Outstanding Mentoring\" award for his creation of the \"Great American Comeback\" School Outreach Program which has introduced approximately 3,000 of our younger and older citizens to the founders and heroes of their country. Married for twenty-eight years to his wife Janina, they have one daughter, Elizabeth who appears to want to follow in her father’s footsteps, practicing law. Having graduated from Dartmouth College summa cum laude, Phi Betta Kappa, she is currently a third year student at Stanford Law School.
