Candidate: Bob Starr

I am a native of Ohio. I have been a resident of Charlotte County for 28 years. I retired after 27 years of service from the Procter and Gamble Company. My years with Procter and Gamble were spent in Sales Management. When I moved to Florida in 1984 I lived on Don Pedro Island. I moved to East County in 2000. I am married to Terry Starr. I have two children and four grandchildren and one great grandson. My service to Charlotte County includes. Past Chairman of the Charlotte County Beaches and Shores Advisory Committee. Past Chairman of the Charlotte County Environmental Land Acquisition Committee. I Served on the Charter Review Committee. Past member of the Charlotte County Republican Executive Committee 25 years. Past Chairman of Charlotte County Republican Executive Committee 8 years. Past Vice Chairman of The Charlotte County Republican Executive Committee. Past Chairman of the Republican Party of Florida Chairman Caucus 4 Years. Past President of the West Charlotte County Republican Club.I was Elected to the Charlotte County Commission 2008. In 2008 I promised to cut the budget cut unnessary staff, reduce the amount spent for outside consultants and outside attorneys, concentrate on economic development, seek advice from taxpayers not just rely on information from staff and those who profit from my votes and to find a solution to the Murdock Village mess. Since elected over 92 million has been cut from the budget. County staffing is at 2002 levels. Outside attorney expenses have been drastically reduced. Outside consultants are only used for specialized functions. Cheney Brothers food distributors are locating in Charlotte County investing almost 100 million dollars. With the potential to provide 600 good paying jobs for the area. Every month I have held a meeting with Charlotte County residents I call my Kitchen Cabinet finding out how they want their money spent. Murdock Village is alive and well. We have begun the process to develope the property. Much has been acomplished during my first term as Commissioner. I am again seeking the office as there is much more to do. When I am Re-Elected I will hold the line on the budget and staffing. I will continue to concentrate on economic development. Cheney Brothers is just the begining of reducing our dependance on building and realestate sales to sustain our local economy. I will find a way to fund road paving in the County outside of the M.S.B.U system which is wasteful and ineffective. I will continue to hold my monthly Kitchen Cabinet meeting with Charlotte County taxpayers. I am Bob Starr and I ask you for your vote in the Primary Election August 14, 2012
