Candidate: Michael Wackerbauer

My name is Michael Wackerbauer and I am living here in University Place with my wife and my two girls (and one dog and two cats) since July 2007. The first 15 months we rented a house here in UP and we all came to really like this neighborhood so we eventually decided to buy into it in August 2008.  

Originally we are both from Germany and came to the US in 2001. We lived in Boston and Chicago and finally came down to Florida in March 2007. In 2010 my wife and myself became US Citizens (both of our girls were born in Boston) and it turned out that we are going to stay a lot longer than we initially planned (I was actually sent over to the US by my company for a 12 months assignment only).

I am a Computer Scientist and working for an international Media Company out of the Sarasota office in the SAP development team which supports all their businesses around the world.

I became involved with our community more and more and finally ran for the HOA board in November 2009 and was elected onto the board. Since then I was involved in lots of projects on the Board (Fighting Medallion Home building Riva Trace and trying to take advantage of our community’s infrastructure (which we eventually succeeded in). The amendment of our governing documents, after getting them into an electronic version by re-typing our documents and incorporating all amendments that have been successfully voted on since the developer handed the community over to the HOA into one document – which was done in three phases over several years, phase III where you voted on quite a few rule changes was completed and filed with the County this year.  And a lot of other day to day issues.

I started on the HOA Board as a Director, moved on to Secretary, Treasurer then Vice President and finally served as President (I did serve on the Board for 7 years).

During that time we also had a lot of interaction with the CDD Board, therefore I am kind of familiar with what the CDD does and therefore I would like to run for the CDD this year.
