Candidate: John R Schmidt

I was born and raised in Staten Island, New York.  I attended Valparaiso University in Indiana, and left there to join the US Navy.  I am a Vietnam  veteran,  and my rating was Gunners Mate Technician 2nd.  Upon leaving the Navy, I attended the City University of New York and attained two degrees, one in economics and another in Business Administration.

I was in the employ of AT&T for 33 years where I had positions as a craftsman, salesman, market manager and product development manager.  I attained the position of District Manager in Product Development and retired in 2002.

I held the position of President for eight years with  Cedar Grove Beach Club, Inc.,  a corporation which held  the leases  with the City of New York for 76 vacation homes. I am a also a licensed airplane pilot.

My wife Kathy of 47 years died in 2015 and I have lived in the Preserve since we built our home in 2002.  In those years, I was active with the Tara Master Association, working on the ARC in helping to write the original ARC documents for the Preserve.  I was an active member of the Communications Committee and, for a number of years, was the content manager for Channel 196, the Community TV Channel for the Preserve.  I also was a member of the committee that re-wrote the Documents and Covenants for the TMA.

I was a previous CDD Supervisor from 2009 to 2016.  During that time I learned a lot about CDD’s, the Preserve and managing the many issues that came before the board.
