Candidate's Statement

Carol is from Michigan and moved to  Manatee County, Anna Maria Island, with her family in 1969 where she resides today. Carol supported herself since the age of 15 while attending high school full time. Carol is a graduate of SCF in Nursing. She worked at Manatee Memorial in Critical Care. Her relationships with patients, physicians and the staff was recognized by the administration a new position was created for her, Director of Physician Relations. Eventually she became Director of Risk Management, a position she held until 1991 when Carol joined Manatee Springs, a head injury rehabilitation facility, as Admissions Coordinator.  Carol wanted to serve her community that supported her when she needed it and was elected City Commissioner in Holmes Beach in 1991. In 1998 she was elected and served as the longest serving Mayor of Holmes Beach to this day. She worked simultaneously as Mayor and nurse/surgical office manager for three surgeons until she successfully ran for Commissioner-At-Large in 2006. Carol continues her commitment to nursing and started working 4years ago, one day a week, as a RN/Nurse Navigator at Florida Home Health.  Carol and her husband, Dr. Andre Renard, have four children through previous marriages and eight grandchildren. Her daughter, Janae, and son-in-law were born on Anna Maria Island and recently moved to West Bradenton. Citizens voted to tax themselves for infrastructure, it is now time to get our older roads repaired and replaced, street lighting in neighborhoods and sidewalks built! 60,000 citizens have moved to our County since the recession and all deserve to drive around the county on safe efficient streets that move traffic efficiently. My commitment is to implement the referendum, continue to not raise your property taxes and support our public saftey Public Safety has to catch up with the increase in our population, especially in north county. I will work with our Sheriff Wells and the Public Safety Director to assure our citizens are safe and we can provide quality emergent care quickly when called. Jobs are important to our Community. I will recruit higher paying businesses. We need quality neighborhoods to raise our families and affordable housing where we work and play without spending most of your time traveling to a destination. Port Manatee is recruiting new businesses that provide jobs! Citizens deserve to be able to talk to their Commissioner. I answer my own emails and returned calls personally.
