Commissioner Jake Sachs is a retired Miami Beach Firefighter/Paramedic who has lived in New Smyrna Beach for over 15 years. Jake is active in many community organizations including the Lions Club whose motto is, "We Serve". The Lion's club chose Jake as the 2017 Citizen of the Year. Jake's entire working career has been in public service. He is an advocate for quality of life and public safety for all New Smyrna Beach residents. He served as the New Smyrna Beach Citizen Adviser for the Volusia Flagler River 2 Sea Traffic Planning Organization for 3 years. During that time he successfully petitioned for 2 traffic lights on busy South Atlantic Avenue. Jake is a strong environmentalist and does all that he can to protect our sensitive coastal environment. He believes in our historic sense of place and smart controlled growth that fits our infrastructure.
