Candidate: Sarah Jones

Sarah Jones is a scientist, a retired public health chemist, who has lived in Port Orange for more than 21 years. Sarah has been an active leader in many community organizations, demonstrating her commitment to Port Orange through two decades of service. Sarah believes transparency and accountability are essential for citizens to have confidence in City leadership.

Sarah knows Port Orange residents participate more when they understand City issues, and she takes the time to attend City Council meetings and listen to residents. Sarah informs them of decisions being made on their behalf. Sarah has supported open access to City Hall by advocating to the Council for the publication of all public records on the City website.

Sarah was an active member of her public service union, earning praise from both sides of the bargaining table for her professional, respectful negotiating style. She has earned the endorsement of FLARA, the Florida Alliance for Retired Americans, which represents over 216,000 retirees, and older Americans, for “her leadership on issues concerning seniors and working families.”

Sarah has dedicated her time in Port Orange to making our city a better place to live, work, visit, and raise a family. Sarah is prepared to serve all Port Orange residents as a dedicated and skilled City Councilwoman.
