Candidate's Statement

Amy Pyle grew up and graduated high school in Sea Cliff New York. In 1982, she made the move to Central Florida where she learned the building trades working in the offices of a residential, and then commercial builder. In 1993, she began employing her skills as an artist to paint large custom murals. She formed her company, Freestyle Custom Tile, hand-painting ceramic tile murals for customers throughout Florida, while raising a family. In 1995, she began her first building renovation, followed by a series of others. She became proficient in many construction trades, and invested in commercial and residential properties. She started, and still maintains, a website to sell vintage household decor and clothing. One of her latest renovations brought her to Daytona Beach - the 100-year old home where she lives today, continuing with other residential renovations and property management, and managing her websites. From 2015 – 2017, she served as the Secretary of the Beachside Neighborhood Watch and produced the newsletter “Voice of the Beachside”. In 2016 she co-founded the website Daytona Beach University, a popular online information resource for Citizens of Daytona Beach. She currently sits on the board of the 501(c)(3) Citizens 4 Responsible Development, and the City of Daytona Beach Beachside Redevelopment Board. She has been active in neighborhoods throughout Daytona Beach, informing and advocating for the residents. Running for the Daytona Beach Zone 3 Commission seat seemed a natural progression for her to best serve her community.
