Candidate's Statement

Josh McGrail is an energetic, straightforward leader dedicated to service in an active family and business life. Josh is a Republican candidate for the Lee Board of County Commissioners (District 4) because, as he puts it “The future of Lee County is the future of my family, and yours.” Josh and his wife Andrea are raising their five children with a dedication to the traditional values they believe have always made American families stronger than the challenges of their times. With a respect for the unique combination of history, natural beauty and lively entrepreneurship Lee County is so rich in, the McGrail family is committed to the idea that all people should be free to prosper here through hard work and creativity. A Lee resident since 1989, Josh is an Eagle Scout, graduate of Mariner High School in Cape Coral, and attended Florida State University in Tallahassee. He is devoted to his family, and is an active leader in several civic and faith based service organizations. Showing an early interest in his community, Josh took on local water quality issues even in school, and ran a multi-year study focused on ground and surface water contamination and treatment technology. The lessons learned are still relevant today, with water quality, Lake O releases, and discharge concerns still impacting the prosperity and quality of life in all Lee County. Josh is a business owner, specializing in advertising and strategy to achieve growth goals in today’s demanding marketplace. He is proud to note he’s had a “real job” since he was 15 years old, and a history of success with every employer, every client he has served. In addition to being a radio host for several years, Josh has built his reputation as a business growth expert, leading several household consumer brands’ marketing programs. Josh has also carved a niche close to his heart, helping prominent conservative issue and political organizations advocate for common sense reforms on local and national scale. The opportunity to align his business strengths with causes he believes in is the reason Josh started his own company, and for his desire to put this passion to work for Lee County as Commissioner, District 4. Josh and his family have lived, worked and played across the County. He understands from this experience, and his neighbors, the concerns residents and businesses face today. Small business growth, jobs, infrastructure needs, roads, flooding protection, safety, and smart planning are among those he hopes to discuss during this election. His foremost hope is to split from typical candidates, and actually listen to real people’s voices and issues along the way, so he can be the strong, common-sense advocate these residents and businesses deserve. In his words, “Energy, straight talk, and honest commitment to the people of Lee County and their values are going to be the hallmarks of my campaign. Josh McGrail is the Lee County Commission candidate who will work to earn your support, rather than buy it with the influence of big spenders who simply do not understand your family’s life.” Josh McGrail’s road to the Board of County Commissioners is going to be dependent on representing the concerns of voters in the 2014 elections, leveraging his business savvy and personal character to advance economic growth, fiscal responsibility, and quality of life for all of Lee County.
