Candidate's Statement

Architect Paul Donofro Jr has announced that he has officially qualified to run for election for the District 3 Jackson County Commission Seat as a Republican candidate.

Mr. Donofro has lived in Jackson County for 56 years, graduated from Marianna High School in 1975, Chipola College in 1978, Florida A & M University in 1981 and the University of Florida with a Master’s Degree in Architecture in 1983. Mr. Donofro currently owns and operates Donofro Architects in Marianna where he has been employed for 37 years.

Mr. Donofro served the citizens of Marianna as an elected City Commissioner for 24 years from 1991 to 2015 and was elected by his fellow Commissioners to serve as the Mayor of the City of Marianna in 1993, 2000, 2003, 2009, and 2014. Mr. Donofro has a long track record of volunteering his time for community service including currently serving as a director on governing Boards for Marianna Main Street, the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Jackson County Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. Donofro has provided leadership for many community betterment initiatives including the revitalization of Downtown Marianna and increasing Eco and Ag Tourism in the County by assisting with the initiation of the Jackson County Tourist Development Council and serving on its Board of Directors from its inception until 2014.

Mr. Donofro has been a Member of the Marianna Kiwanis Club (now the Chipola Civic Club) since 1986 and served as that Clubs Vice President in 1997 and President in 1998.

Mr. Donofro is a member of the First United Methodist Church here in Marianna and currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Methodist Church.

Mr. Donofro is married to his wife of 35 years Kathy Gates Donofro and they have two children, Christopher and Jessica.

Mr. Donofro believes that his experience in operating and managing a successful small business and his former experience in municipal government coupled with his leadership and visioning skills will be an asset to Jackson County as we try to move Jackson County forward toward a better future for all of our citizens.
