Why does the board need me?

I believe there's an old boys' network in this county that loves the status quo and resists change and oversight.

The board needs me because we need to have public officials who follow and respect the law. The board needs to be able to take up uncomfortable topics, and as a mom of two young children, I cut through nonsense from dawn till dusk.

What are my qualifications?

Let’s start with the most important thing -- I am a mother of two young children. Which means I’m versatile, quick, and up for any challenge. I ask great questions and I don’t stand for shenanigans.

In addition to that, I have a degree in the history of math and science from St. John’s College in Annapolis, and a master’s in Persian Studies from the University of Maryland. 

I have spent most of my career in communications, the majority of it in journalism, which I consider a public service. I’ve been a reporter, a photographer, a video editor, a production coordinator, and have held two director-level positions at non-profits and dealt with budgets in tight times. I know what working with a board entails. I am used to working with teams with clearly defined missions -- like the Mosquito Control District.  I’ve delivered essential supplies in Kosovo with the Dutch military. I’ve coordinated the production of a tv show that the U.S. government broadcast to Iran. I am currently a licensed Florida Investigator intern. 

All of these things come together to make me a well-rounded, well-educated citizen who’s good at asking questions and who’s tired of politics as usual.
