Candidate's Statement

Salutations, My name is Ansonio James Mitchell and I am a candidate for the 2015 City Council for District Eight. I am the son of a retired Staff Sergeant for the United States Army, thus I was able to expand my outlets of education during his tours in countries that the bases permitted dependents to reside. I have personally taught myself in the subjects of humanities, while instructed by professionals the concepts of political science. I am currently studying to become an aviation/combat support officer and Judges Advocate General. Manifestly, this shall not conflict with my duties as a member of the City Council placing my utmost concerns towards the needs of the community. Also, I am the president and co-founding member for the Men of Distinction; a minority male youth club that teaches the core values and tenants to be successful in today\'s society (diligence, community, determination, optimism, education and honesty), our anthem is the poem \"Invictus\" by William Ernest Henley, the group is hosted by Jean Ribault High School. My political venture is to renovate the property, create more opportunities and a safer community in District Eight and expand the concept to many other Districts. My administration shall propose the \"Buy Back Initiative\", therefore buying out the Foreclosed properties in the area and returning them to the prior owners at a more affordable interest rate (reflecting the price the City paid, instead of the initial cost of the property) unless they wish to forfeit the property to another potential owner. I shall press forth to have more funding placed into the \"Better Jacksonville\" Program, thus we can continue our promise in providing better living conditions to our citizens. I shall propose a universal grant of two hundred dollars for all graduating High School Seniors in the City, whom are transition towards higher education, the military or vocational work force, because the newer generations need to know we are fully behind any humble aspirations they are striving towards. I shall vouch for the Promise Zone to provide more funding to the JSO Department, therefore we can have a greater number of policemen and officers patrolling our streets. Conclusively, I am a man determined to do what is good for the people, because I am a man who listens and then reacts with the best interests of the proposed majority and all. I am one who desires only to service the community that has given me asylum in my days of need, in the greatest helm of civic duty placed upon pulpit of democracy. I am patriot whose past has allowed myself to grow stronger both mentality and physically. I am an American structured by the fundamental rights given to all of this land by the constitution. I am a Citizen of Jacksonville who adorns his fellow citizens with the utmost passion.
