Candidate: Bobby Taylor

Service has been a large part of my life. When I was a Boy Scout we were taught and encouraged to serve. It began with going to Retirement Community\'s on weekends to assist elderly folks with grocery shopping and other chores. It also gave me the opportunity to attend a State Legislator Session in Tallahassee as a guest of a member of our Church who was our State Representative. This was the seed of my interest in Public Service. In 1974 I began my 40 year Career at Southern Bell Telephone Company as a Service Technician. My entire Career has by been working in your homes and business\'s providing your Telecommunication needs. In 1976 I took a 4 year Leave of Absence to Serve our Country in the United States Air Force. Three of those years I was stationed in England and witnessed the demise of extreme Socialism and the rebirth of the English economy under the Leadership of Margaret Thatcher. I came to believe that Extremism and Socialism are destructive to true freedom,this led me to be the Moderate Conservative that I am today. My interest in local politics began in 1995 when the city of Jacksonville allowed the filming of a movie at Huguenot Memorial Park without proper notification to the public and closed the park from numerous days for the filming of the movie . I led the opposition to this and spoke at the Jacksonville City Council. We also gathered Petitions to get Lifeguard Service at Huguenot Memorial Park.In 2006 I was elected President of the Heckscher Community Club inc. and again in 2012.In 2006 I was appointed to the North Citizens Planning and Advisory Committee ( CPAC). In 2008 I was elected Vice Chair of the North CPAC. I was elected Chairperson of the North CPAC 2009-2010 and again as Chairperson 2013-2014. I am a founding Member of \"The Friends of the St Johns River Ferry\" and served on the Executive Committee. As President of \"Florida Open Beaches Foundation inc.\" since 2009 I have fought to keep the publics rights to access our Beaches before the State and Local Governments. I am \"Ready to Serve\" as your District 2 Councilman. When I am elected I will Retire from ATT and Serve as your Full time Voice.
