Candidate: Latanya Peterson

Latanya is a native Floridian who has lived in Jacksonville for the past 9 years and has been a public school educator for the past 10 years. Latanya is active in several organizations at different capacities in the community. She serves as 1st Vice President for the Duval Teacher’s Union, the President of the Duval County Minority Republican Club, the Director of Outreach for the Florida Assembly of Black Republicans, a member of the Republican Executive Committee, and a member of the Young Republican Federation of Jacksonville. From Latanya- Restoring the Dream “My focus and determination is to develop and implement sustainable mechanisms that will create a bolder and better city of Jacksonville. I plan to accomplish this from a leadership platform built on grassroots derived initiatives with emphasis on identifying and removing obstacles that bring advancements and progress to a standstill. By enabling and pursuing strategic collaborative opportunities, I strive to boldly promote sound investments that create synergy for growth and improvements for the citizens of Jacksonville.” In addition to Latanya’s volunteer roles, she holds a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in English and a Masters of Science Degree in Management and Administration for Educational Programs. Latanya is a member of the Celebration Church of Jacksonville. She is happily married to her husband, John, and is a proud mother of two wonderful children.
