Candidate: Lynn Sherman

Lynn Sherman serves as Director of Social Responsibility Community Health for Baptist Health where she leads community outreach initiatives that allow her to work to identify the unmet community needs, set priorities and develop strategies to improve the health and quality of life families where we live work and play. It includes developing strategies to meet community health needs, providing community outreach programs with many local non-profits and local churches, youth mentoring, health education and training for heart disease, diabetes, asthma and other disease disparities that plague our community. She has worked in health care for more than 30 years and has spent many of those years as a health educator. Mrs. Sherman is a strong community advocate. Under her leadership, the Tipping the Scale Mentoring Adolescent Advocacy and Intervention Mentoring Program has touched the lives of more than 400 teens. She coordinates the annual Sister to Sister Girls Empowerment Summit, serves on the Department of Health’s Diabetes Coalition and Men’s Health Summit committee. She serves as a board of director for the Emergency Services and Homeless Coalition of Northeast Florida and Family Support Services of Northeast Florida. She was a recipient of the Community Connections Celebration of Leadership award in 2005, a recipient of the Shirley Anderson’s Excellence in Mentoring Award in 2010, Leadership Jacksonville Class of 2011, named one of the Jacksonville Business Journal’s Health Care Heroes for 2012.
