Candidate: Mike Anania

Mike Anania is A 30yr resident of Arlington and a small business owner. The Navy brought Mike here in 1979 and served aboard the Guided Missile Cruiser USS Dale CG-19. His love and commitment to Jacksonville\'s Navy community has lead him to become a board member and significant contributor to the Jacksonville Historical Naval Ship Museum. He supports their effort to bring the Charles F. Adams DDG-2 to Jacksonville\'s downtown as the first Naval Warship Museum in Florida. He fell in love with Jacksonville and stayed. Mike & his wife Patti, a graduate of Terry Parker High have successfully operated CAM Automotive on Arlington Rd since 1992. Mike serves on the Duval County Republican Executive Committee and is a recent graduate of the Regional Political Leadership Institute, an intense training program sponsored by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce. In addition to his political involvement, Mike is also an active member of his community as the President of Arlington Business Society. He serves on the Greater Arlington/Beaches Citizen Planning Advisory Council (CPAC) since 2007 and in 2014 was elected its Chairman. From 2008-2010 he served on the 2030 Comprehensive Plan\'s Community Vision Steering Committee as its Chairman. He also served on the Mobility Plan Task Force that produced the city\'s Mobility Plan; a fee-assessment system that ensures that transportation infrastructure is funded by developers, not taxpayers. Mike Anania\'s Vision for Arlington \"Arlington must receive its fair share of the city\'s resources. Especially in the areas of public safety,crime prevention, parks and libraries, the residents of Arlington need to see that the City is paying attention.\" Arlington also has a unique opportunity to direct its own destiny by restoring the kind of healthy business environment that\'s attractive to those who would live in the area. \"Jacksonville University under it new President, Tim Cost, is working on a privately funded effort to restore the commercial corridor along Merrill Road and portions of University Blvd.\" Mike Anania is serving on the Project Dolphin Task Force that is the city\'s portion of this initiative. Together with the Jacksonville Sheriff\'s Office, the Office of Economic Development,the Planning Dept, the Public Works Dept, JEA and JU this project will help create crime-free multi-family housing, business friendly walkable corridors. \"We need to support this effort as we encourage quality redevelopment throughout Arlington. It is the key to a revitalized Arlington. A strong business community is the cornerstone to economic prosperity.\" It will make Arlington better because it will make our neighborhoods better.
