What a great day in the city of Jacksonville and the state of Florida! During my time on the Jacksonville City Council and as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, I was excited to be a part of helping to make Jacksonville a world-class city and Florida one of the best states in America. As a City Councilman, I had the privilege of being a part of an amazing vision for a new and vibrant downtown, along with creating new jobs with public and private partnerships, Downtown Renaissance, helping to bring our NFL Jacksonville Jaguars football team along with numerous new jobs to our city, supporting the Better Jacksonville Plan, which enhanced the entire city with new roads and a new sports complex. As a member of the Florida House, we had a $2.5 billion surplus, unprecedented growth and positive change, along with one of America\'s strongest economies creating new jobs throughout our city and state, and providing greater access for our senior community. Today, more than ever, I celebrate our city and the state of Florida and its diversity. What we do as a city, state, and nation in the future will speak volumes to the world. I celebrate our accomplishments and develop a renewed responsibility to all citizens. Democracy has come full circle and each generation must define what it means to be an American. My focus and policies are to help shape our city\'s future with safer neighborhoods, more public safety, a thrilling downtown, senior citizen incentive programs, more affordable housing, higher quality jobs, and a continuously booming city economy where all of our citizens can truly share in the American Dream. As a city we must ensure that we have the resources needed to secure our neighborhoods, clean and maintain our environment, and safeguard against natural disasters. I want to help chart an even better course for the citizens of Council District 8 and our great city. I can do this with the help of great friends like you. Thank you for your help and support, but most of all, thank you for your friendship. It truly has been a blessing to represent the city of Jacksonville and the state of Florida.
