Candidate's Statement

It's time to get Broward back on track. It's time to #CountEveryVote because #EveryVoteCounts. It's time for Mitch Ceasar for Supervisor of Elections.

Broward has been under attack. Our votes are jeopardized by the Florida Legislature, foreign hacking possibilities loom, and the public's right to know is in danger of being eliminated.  These confusing times call for a unique blend of legal knowledge, election involvement, and a proven track record of transparency and effective management to return the Broward election office the highest standard.

The experiences of Mitch's work and life have prepared him to be Supervisor of Elections. He has been and will always be a community activist first. With 40 years as an attorney with experience in election law, Mitch has fought against voter suppression and for expanded voting rights and for transparency. These experiences led him to be part of the initiation of the Florida Presidential Recount of 2000. As a prior Broward Democratic Chairman, he was dedicated to increasing voter engagement and turnout and brings the same dedication to his efforts today. He spoke out against inefficiencies and addressed the needs of our Broward communities. Public engagement works in business and in good government - it's time to apply these principles to the election office. All Broward voices must be heard, every vote must be counted, and voters must have confidence in the process.

Previously, the job of Supervisor of Elections was to count votes accurately, and in a timely manner. While these tasks remain, times have changed and the job description has changed as well. This is no longer a purely administrative job. It is a position to defend our constitutional rights and a position that must include voter education, engagement, and the ability to speak out whenever voter suppression appears. Our next Supervisor of Elections needs to be a tough fighter, an unyielding advocate, and an experienced leader that fits our times. Mitch Ceasar is the one for the job.
