My name is Steve Barrow and I am running for Broward County Public Schools’ At-Large Board Member - Seat #9. My platform covers issues and concerns for everyday Broward County parents. I am dedicated to fighting for the rights of EVERY STUDENT in Broward County. It doesn’t matter if you live in Pompano, Parkway, Pembroke Pines, or Parkland; every student has the right to receive a quality education in a safe and secure environment. 
 

MY VISION FOR BROWARD COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

I am committed to keeping our schools safe by working with local law enforcement to build relationships that bridge the communities and the police. By working with local and national non-profit organizations, I am helping to expand or create new opportunities for every student regardless of their family’s financial status. I believe we can strengthen relationships with the teacher’s union and the unions of our valuable non-instructional employees as well as heavily improve or rebuild our aging schools.

WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE FOR ME?

Under my leadership as Chair of Central Area Advisory Council, we were able to take a motion from Cypress Bay High School's SWAT (Students Working Against Tobacco) team, introduce it to the school board and changed the tobacco use policy. This new policy educates students about the effects of vaping and protects them from the dangers of vaping. With my experience and drive to accomplish these goals, I am the most qualified candidate to elect in 2020. I have 5 years of volunteer service in the Broward County Public Schools system, including 2 years in leadership positions and over 1,500 total volunteer hours. Broward County Public Schools have made major strides in education in recent years but we still have a long way to go. I have been working alongside existing board members to resolve issues before they affect your child’s school. Essentially, I have been working for free to make sure your child is afforded every possible opportunity.
