Candidate: Timothy T. Lonergan

Tim believes that fair, secure and transparent elections are critical to a healthy Democracy.  He strongly advocates for the right to vote and will work hard to build public confidence and trust in the Broward County Supervisor of Elections office.  Tim believes it’s time for the Broward office to be a model for the Nation!  The office requires a leader that has extensive Leadership, Operational and Managerial skills.  Tim has the experience and skillset to best lead the office.

• A proven, reliable and trusted elected official serving on the Oakland Park Commission since 2013. Tim successfully served as Oakland Park Mayor in 2016 & 2018.  
• Past President of the Broward League of Cities representing the 31 municipalities of Broward County.  
• A 34 year employee of a fortune 50 health insurance company in Medicare and Medicaid Operations. 
• Named ‘Home Rule Hero’ by the Florida League of Cities in 2018 and 2020.
• Named ‘Municipal Leader of the Year’ by the Broward County Council of Professional Firefighters in 2018.

Tim is ready to lead the SOE!  When elected, he’ll begin by identifying and remediating the lessons learned and opportunities for improvement following the 2020 elections.  He will work closely with SOE Directors to: 

• Review and update all Policies & Procedures and Process Instructions.
• Develop and implement plans to increase voter registration, voter education, voter turnout and vote-by-mail.
• Improve transparency, community partnerships and public confidence and trust.
• Enhance network security and technology.
• Evaluate and refine the post-election audit policies, procedures and process instructions.  
• Network with the County Commission, Municipalities and Community Partners to advocate for voter reform on both State and Federal levels.
