Candidate's Statement

Tom Henning is a deep-rooted resident of Naples, Florida, who has been heavily
involved in the community for the majority of the 50-plus years he has lived here. He
attended Naples High School, graduating from Lely High School, and went on to own and
operate Golden Gate Auto Repair for approximately two decades. During his time as a
local business owner, he was appointed to the Golden Gate Civic Advisory Board, served
as President of the Golden Gate Civic Association, and was elected as Fire Commissioner
of the Golden Gate Fire District (1996-2000). He continued his civic service on several
committees in the following years, namely as Liaison to both the Collier County
Productivity Committee and the Community Character/Smart Growth Committee, as well
as Vice Chairman to the Collier County Republican Executive Committee (2008-2010).

In addition to the aforementioned positions, Tom has served on the Collier County Election
Canvassing Board, the Tourist Development Council, and the Southwest Florida Regional
Planning Council. Mr. Henning also had the honor of being elected as Collier Country
Commissioner in 2000 and dutifully held this position until 2016, at which time he was
elected as Fire Commissioner to the Greater Naples Fire District (2016-2020).

Such
dedication to municipal betterment of Collier County over the years has been sparked by
both intrinsic motivators as well as the three children Tom has been blessed with. Tom’s
eldest son graduated from the school he himself attended, Naples High School, and is
now following in his father’s footsteps as a current business owner in Naples. Presently a
junior at West Point military academy, his youngest son graduated from Barron Collier
High School, while his only daughter is currently enrolled in fourth grade at Vineyards
Elementary School. For Tom Henning, there is a personal incentive to continuously
improve the state of the town of Naples, and the county at-large for the sake of not only
those who currently live here, but any future individuals and families.
