Candidate's Statement

Barbara Girtman is a fourth generation DeLand resident who is fast emerging as a leader focused on advocating for civic engagement and business opportunities in DeLand and Volusia County. Barb was twice elected unopposed in 2014, 2016 as a Commissioner for the West Volusia Hospital Authority, she volunteers on the board for the Rotary Club of Deland, Beacon News and the Greater Union Life Center a religious based community nonprofit organization, she is also an appointed member of the City of DeLand's Economic Development Committee and serves on several Strategic Planning Committees. Barbara Girtman is a Multi-Million Dollar Real Estate Sales Professional at Bee Realty Corp.Barb has been recognized for her civic and business engagement efforts with a West Volusia NAACP President's, Johanna Knox village, and DeLand Areas Chamber Civic Engagement Awards and the News Journal Influential Business Woman recognition among several others.
