Candidate: Belle Schumann

First appointed by Governor Jeb Bush in 2005, Judge Belle Schumann has been elected twice to the bench. She is a native Floridian, born at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, and 35 year resident of Volusia County. She graduated with honors from Stetson University in DeLand and Florida State University law school. She raised two sons here with her husband, Bill. Belle is honored to serve the citizens of Volusia County. She has presided over more than 200 jury trials, and was the first county judge ever to sit as an Associate Judge of the Fifth District Court of Appeal. Judge Schumann has been consistently voted high or highest by lawyers in judicial polls as knowledgeable in the law, fair and ethical. An expert in criminal law, Judge Schumann teaches other judges and has taught police officers. She founded DUI Treatment Court and the SAVE docket. Judge Belle Schumann works to improve the efficiency of the justice system to better serve the people.
