Candidate: Fred Lowry

Fred Lowry, Jr. was born in Denison, Texas in 1954, while his dad served in the Air Force at Perrin Air Force Base, near Sherman, Texas. He spent his Elementary and Jr. High years in Milford, Delaware. The Lowry, Sr. family relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1968, where Fred attended high school. Lowry attended the University of Tennessee--Chattanooga for a short time majoring in physics. He finished his undergraduate work at Tennessee Temple University with a B.S., majoring in Math/Education He also attended the University of Louisville for a short time while teaching high school there. He went on to complete a Masters degree in Education and finally a Ph.D. at Trinity Theological Seminary. Fred married high school sweetheart Vikki Cline on June 22, 1973 and are approaching their 45th anniversary. Vikki has a B.S. in Music, specializing in Piano. She is an accomplished classical pianist and is now retired.  Vikki also has a Masters Degree in Counseling. The Lowry’s have 2 children. Vanessa who was an RN for a while but is now pursing a Doctorate in Astrophysics from UCF. Veronica was Valedictorian at Pine Ridge HS 2011 and is an R.N. with a B.S.N. from UCF and works at Florida Hospital Fish in Orange City. Rounding out the family are two dogs, Sasha and Sadie, two mini donkeys, Peanut and Bindy, and most recently 2 German Shepherds, Ana and Elsa.   Fred has worked as a Math teacher and High School principal and most recently for 25 years as Senior Pastor at Deltona Lakes Baptist Church. Fred served as a Deltona City Commissioner 2010-2014 and is completing his first term as Volusia County Councilman District 5 (DeBary, Deltona, Enterprise, Osteen). >His hobbies are bass fishing, gardening and farming.
