Candidate: Cassandra Starks

Hello!  My name is Cassandra Starks, and I want to be your choice for Seat 1 on the Celebration Community Development District (CCDD) board.

I am a practicing attorney, wife, and mother of 3 boys.  Since making Celebration my home 17 years ago, not only have I represented members of our community in legal matters, but I have also been an involved member in our community as a volunteer.  I began by volunteering with the Montessori School of Celebration and later at Celebration High School (CHS) as treasurer, president, and present member of the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA).  The CHS PTSA Golf Scramble, which many of you support, was founded during my tenure as president in 2012 and continues to be the PTSA’s signature fundraiser each year.  I have also worked with the Celebration Foundation, another great way to give back to our town.  My home has been included in the Holiday Home Tour, and I have helped develop programming for the Foundation’s Women’s Initiative Nurturing Girls’ Strength (WINGS). 

My law practice focuses on estate planning and immigration, which allows my involvement to extend beyond Celebration.  I have provided pro bono estate planning services to our first responders through a program with the Orange County Bar Association and pro bono immigration services to people across the country as a volunteer with the Immigration Justice Campaign.  I have been an adjunct professor at FAMU Law School.  Presently, I am a trustee at my church in Kissimmee.

The villages of Celebration have proven to be a wonderful place to live and raise a family.  I am running for a position on the CCDD board based upon a platform of working to preserve the planning and design principles upon which Celebration was formed, while providing its residents a modern way of life in a beautiful and safe town.

I pledge to serve the board with a sense of enlightened stewardship and fiscal responsibility.
