Candidate's Statement

Dear Neighbors,

First off, I would like to pray for the health and safety of your family during these most challenging times we are unfortunately dealt with.

Second, I would like to thank you for visiting the supervisor of elections website.  I am very grateful to know that you are an engaged voter who is making the effort to know more about my campaign.

A lot has happened since the last time I served on the school board - beyond the virus...

I went back to school to obtain an MBA and a second bachelor's degree in Information Technology. I fell in love with computer programming, web design and security consulting; and have worked with many local businesses in Osceola County. Not only am I an advocate for education, but am someone who follows through and leads by example.

Recruitment of great teachers is only the beginning, retention of our great educators is equally important.  I will focus a great deal of attention and resources to enhance the moral and welfare of our teachers to improve the overall recruitment and retention of them.

As a third generation combat veteran, I understand the need for security and safety, but the state of Florida mandate of monthly active shooter training is simply overkill for our children. Each school should have adults that compromise a school safety task force, and that team can conduct monthly training according to approved check lists, but the entire school population should be limited to only once a semester or annually.

My heart goes out to the Orlando family whose 6 year old daughter was arrested on campus with flex cuffs and taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center. Better policies and procedures should be coordinated with law enforcement and school administrators to ensure that arrests are only made in the most pressing situations where violence with a weapon is present. A six year old with no weapons should be locally disciplined (given detention, suspended from school or some other from of approved disciplinary action that does not result in an arrest and police record).

As you can tell, I am passionate about serving again. It has been a blessing to return to the private sector for a couple of years to see the world from a different perspective with lessons learned that can be applied on the second go around.

I humbly ask for your vote on August 18, 2020.
