Jamie Tyndal is your current Hamilton County Judge.  She was appointed to the bench in February of 2023 by Governor Ron DeSantis.  Judge Tyndal attended the University of Florida graduating Cum Laude with a degree in Finance in 2005.  She went on to graduate from the University of Florida College of Law, the number one law school in the State of Florida, in 2009.

In 2010 Judge Tyndal began her career in the Third Circuit (made up of Hamilton, Columbia, Suwannee, Madison, Dixie, Lafayette, and Taylor Counties) at the Office of the State Attorney.   She was promoted to the Special Prosecution Unit in 2015 where she handled homicides and child sex cases throughout the circuit, including Hamilton County. She also handled the Circuit’s Involuntary Civil Commitment of Violent Sexual Predator cases.  In 2018, she became an office supervisor while still maintaining her SPU case load.  After serving as a prosecutor for over a decade, Judge Tyndal left the State Attorney’s Office in 2021 and opened her own firm where she practiced exclusively in the Third Circuit.  She has tried cases in Hamilton County and throughout the Circuit as both a prosecutor and defense attorney.

In addition to practicing law, Judge Tyndal also began teaching business law in the Fall of 2020 at Florida Gateway College.  She continued teaching there until she was appointed to the bench in 2023.  During her career she has always been a member of the Third Judicial Circuit Bar Association where she also served on the Board from 2017 becoming the president from July 2019-July 2020.  She served on the Pro Bono Committee from July 2019 through July 2020.  From July 2019-July 2020 and again from January 2021 through February 2023 she served on the Professionalism Committee.  She also served on the Grievance Committee from March 2021 through February of 2023 when she took the bench.

Judge Tyndal currently sits on the Committee of 31 Solo Judges and the Criminal Rules Committee.  As the county court judge, she presides over traffic court, county criminal court, small claims, and county civil cases.  She also sits as an acting circuit judge presiding over the county’s juvenile, dependency, probate, and guardianship cases.  Judge Tyndal has also established a truancy court and is working with several other Third Circuit county judges to come up with uniform forms to assist pro se litigants (individuals representing themselves) navigate the judicial system.

Judge Tyndal is happily married to her husband, Cory Imler.  Cory is a fourth generation North Florida Farmer and owns his own successful construction company.  Both Judge Tyndal and her husband enjoy spending time with their families and outdoors where they work in their garden and help tend to his family’s cattle and farm.  When they manage to find the time, they both enjoy spending time on the water fishing.
