Candidate's Statement

Kissimmee City Commissioner Olga Gonzalez, of Puerto Rican descent, was born in Harlem, NY. Married for 39 years, she raised 4 children, has 15 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Coming from humble beginnings, Olga Gonzalez knew she was destined to help her fellow man .

After retiring from an advocate as an EAP Rep. for general motors, Olga Gonzalez relocated to Osceola County.

She started a non-profit organization called Church and Community Assistance Program, Inc. This organization was founded with the fundamental purpose to cover the basic needs of the oppressed. Olga had a vision to turn this organization of benevolence and support into an efficient resource for those in need. Under Mrs Gonzalez’s supervision, the Church and Community Assistance Program, Inc. would not only connect young mothers with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and the Department of Health, but also also provide a resource to assist senior citizens, who have diabetes, and provide job partnering. This non-profit organization started by donating bags of food weekly to families in need and has evolved to partner with the DCF to aid in the processing of food stamp and Medicaid applications. Soon after, the Church and Community Assistance Program became a subcontractor with one of the highest counts of applications processed in the region.

The organization developed and implemented the "one-stop-shop" where families in need can acquire various services such as health screenings, food stamps, Medicaid, food pantry, clothing bank, government referrals, social services, and numerous others, at one location. Olga’s organization also provided guidance and assistance to young men and women, released from prison, seeking to reenter the workforce.

Olga’s mission is to expand her humanitarian services to the community at large - the homeless, the unemployed and the marginalized - with a headquarter where individuals can go to apply for aid. Olga works hard to ensure that the less fortunate citizens are treated equally regardless of their social, political, and religious status. In addition, Olga has also made requests for the monitoring of non-profit organizations' government-acquired funds, to prevent public funds from being issued bipartisanly. Olga has also boldly stood against the Homeowners Associations (HOA), she is fighting to defend families against HOA Corruption.

Olga has also been a pioneer in installing small libraries, better known as "Little Free Library." These libraries were designated in low-income areas to promote reading, lower dropout rates, and encourage social interaction among children, youth, and adults where the community can exchange books for free.

Olga has been recognized by the following boards:
