Candidate: John Quinton

I was raised on a family farm and entered the ministry after a career in the automobile business. I am married to Gail, and we have two children and three grandchildren. I retired at the end of June from pastoral ministry. Over the past eight years, I served at the Sopchoppy and Ochlockonee Bay United Methodist Churches. Though I was looking forward to a quiet retirement, fishing with Gail, playing golf with my grandsons, and volunteering in the community, my plans changed when a friend asked me, "Why don’t you run for the Wakulla County Commission?"

I recognized Wakulla's need for clean water, good roads, access to education, a fair cost of living, and the need for our rivers, lakes, springs, and coastlines to be protected. So, after prayer and contemplation, I decided that with my understanding of business practices and background in church ministry, I was ready for a new form of community service.  

We have a wonderful, unique way of life here in Wakulla. As your commissioner, I will work every day to protect it.
