Candidate's Statement

Position of Tax Collector Lee County Education Associates in Arts, University of Maryland University College Bachelor of Arts Business, University of Maryland University College Major course work in the areas of Accounting, Finance, Auditing and Business Law I have been in the Auditing, Finance and Accounting fields for over 30 years working in those tasks assigned during my career in the United States Marine Corps, State of Florida, Commercial Sector and the Lee County Property Appraiser’s Office. United States Marine Corps – Sgt – MSgt appointed as a Non Appropriated Fund Auditor conducting audits of Economy and Efficiency, Program Results, Time and Motion Studies, Compliance, Financial Auditing on all activities operating aboard the Military Federal Locations I was assigned to cover. I retiring after 20 + years’ service. State of Florida as both a Sales, Use, Documentary, Local Option, Intangible and other taxes assigned to complete audits on randomly sampled Businesses and documents filed with the Clerk of Courts ensuring proper assessment, collection and payment of the taxes along with ensuring proper remittance to the proper agencies in the timely manner. Part of the responsibilities of this position included the preparation and issuance of reports noting deficiencies of taxes collected/paid and collection of the amounts unpaid/underpaid along with penalties and interest. State of Florida as a Tangible Personal Property Tax Auditor randomly examining those businesses assigned to verify proper preparation, reporting of all tangible personal property and timely submission of the reports to the various Counties I was assigned to cover. The results of all work was presented and discussed with the local Property Appraiser Office Personnel. All of the above tasks were handled by myself in every stage of beginning, middle management and supervisory management levels I was assigned. All of the above education, work experience and knowledge provide me with the best experience to work as a Tax Collector. I will use all my experience and knowledge to ensure the Office functions in a greater operating efficiency, with the customer’s need at the forefront.
