Candidate: Gene Ungarean

Gene Ungarean is a candidate for Collier Mosquito Control District, Seat 4.
Gene spent 32 years in law enforcement in the Pittsburgh area and retired as Police Chief in 2014. During his law enforcement career, he served as Patrol Officer, Sergeant, and finally as Police Chief for 18 years. Gene is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  During his tenure as Police Chief, he served as President of the Western Pennsylvania and Beaver County Police Chief organizations. He was also a member of the FBI National Academy Associates, Lions Club, and the Pennsylvania DUI Association. He was selected in 2000 as Pennsylvania’s Police Chief of the Year.
Gene Ungarean is currently the Director of Grey Oaks Management Services and is a licensed community association manager in Florida. Along with property management, he directs all access control and safety functions for Grey Oaks and Estuary at Grey Oaks Clubs.
Gene is a graduate of Leadership Collier, 2018.  After being selected to participate in Leadership Collier, Gene spent much time in the county learning about and supporting education, law enforcement, small and large business, government, and charities.  In particular, Gene supports Make-A-Wish whenever possible.  
Gene is a member of the Collier County Identity Theft Taskforce Committee.  As a member of this committee, he volunteers his time and expertise to draw attention to this issue within Collier County and supports the development plans to help those who fall victim to this crime.  
In his current roles (and in previous roles):  
*Gene manages contracts and budgets, and negotiates contracts  
*Has vast experience in strategic planning based on needs assessment and data,
*Helps implement efficient and effective strategies to move organizations forward so they are “Future Ready”,
*Works with people to set goals and accomplish them for the organization,
*Makes sure industry standards are met or exceeded in all areas, especially safety
Gene is the past President of the Marbella Isles Home Owners Association (H.O.A.) and a member of the Collier County Republican Executive Committee. On a personal note, Gene and his family have resided in Naples for 5 years and have visited the area for 20 years.  His children are being raised here so he has a vested interest in contributing as much as possible to the community.
Gene is running for Collier Mosquito Control District, Seat 4 to more actively contribute to Collier County government. He wants to ensure safety for all, fiscal responsibility, adherence to or improvement of industry standards, and to continuously improve the quality of life in Collier County.
