Candidate: Wilfredo "Will" Fonseca

Hello Osceola County Residents! My name is Wilfredo “Will” Fonseca. First, I would like to thank you for doing your research and learning about me and other candidates on the Osceola Supervisor of election website.

     A little bit about myself: I was born in New York, but I have called Osceola County my home for the last 20 years. Osceola County is where I met my lovely wife and high school sweetheart, Lucy. We both graduated from Gateway High School. Go Panthers! Osceola County is where my two children, Ryko (15) and Leilani (8) have always attended school. Osceola County is where my family dedicates many hours of community service and human service.

     My father has worked in the electrical and construction field for more than 30 years, and my mother has devoted the last 20 years of her life working for the Osceola Council on Aging, Meals on Wheels program. In my free time, I partner up with her and deliver meals to the participants of the program.

     I am currently a coach for three local youth organizations: Kissimmee All-stars Are Bright, Florida Royals and the City of Saint Cloud. In addition to that, I have always been involved in assisting the community via community service with organizations such as The Special Olympics and The Council on Aging. My older brother Frankie has been an athlete for the Special Olympics since I was a young kid. Since youth, I developed a passion for helping those less fortunate, and it all started with helping my brother Frankie. With Special Olympics, I have volunteered as a partner, coach and as part of a committee. My professional experience includes business management, business consulting, investing and real estate. I have worked in helping the community and managed businesses with a multi-million-dollar budget.

     As an Osceola County resident who has been around to see the immense growth the county has made, I realize that there are still many changes that need to be made and a few other things that just do not make sense. After conducting endless hours of research and interviews in the community, I realized that I needed to take the advice I gave my youth and that was to “take action”. I am learning every day that if I wish to see changes; I have to be a part of change itself. As a community coach and leader, I am ready to make a difference on a larger scale.

     I am running for District 4 County Commissioner because that will allow me to work with the community and other community leaders who together have the power to create a bigger difference. I want to represent all the residents of the county. I want to be their voice on issues and concerns that are constantly put on the back burner. Recent topics would include things like our level of homelessness, the environment and school safety, which will be top priorities.

I believe in being community focused with common sense leadership. I believe that we are stronger together, and together we will work to ensure our county:

• ALWAYS TRANSPARENT WITH THE COMMUNITY.

I will hold regular community meetings keeping the lines of communication open and consistent.

• Manages growth while managing traffic issue and concerns.

We need to be proactive with our infrastructure and have controlled growth. 

• Properly manages expenditures while keeping sales tax and property taxes low.

Our residents should not pay the price every time we run into a problem.

• Make school safety a priority while working with our school board and local law enforcement!

As an active parent of two children in the Osceola county school system, school safety is top priority. Children should be safe in schools. My children and all our children should not have to worry about their safety in schools.

     With nearly a decade of business mentoring, volunteering and real estate experience, I know what it takes to find common sense solutions, navigate the complicated issues and get things done with the community in mind.

     IF YOU WANT TO SEE A DIFFERENCE, YOU HAVE TO VOTE DIFFERENT. I am not your everyday politician. I am a family man, a coach and the man who is willing to take off his suit and tie and get down and dirty in the community. I believe in Community over Politics and I will stand true to that until my last day. As a devoted resident and community leader, I will not stop until Osceola County is where it needs to be.
