Candidate's Statement

Ms. Arendas grew up in Central Florida. She, her husand, Kurt, and their two children, Claire and Cole, relocated to Osceola County in 2006. She is actively involved in her community personally and professionally. She volunteers with the schools, Boy Scouts, Justice Teaching and Osceola County Teen Court.  She serves on the board of directors for the Community Hope Center, IDignity Osceola and Legal Aid Society of Osceola. She also represents Osceola County through her service on the Ninth Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and Ninth Judicial Circuit Professionalism Panel. Additionally, she serves on the Florida Adoption Council, Central Florida Family Law Inns of Court and Florida Bar Adoption Board Certification Committee.

She is an avid supporter of the United States Armed Forces with family and friends who have served or continue to serve in various branches. Her father and father-in-law both served in the U.S. Army, her husband served in the U.S. Marine Corp, and her brother presently serves in the U.S. Army Reserves. 

Ms. Arendas obtained her Associate in Arts degree at Brevard Community College in 2000. She continued her undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida receiving her Bachelors in Science Business Administration with a focus on Economics in 2002. She then pursued her lawdegree at Barry University Orlando School of Law which she received in 2006.

Ms. Arendas has worked in the legal field for over 25 years. Following an extensive career as a paralegal, she was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2006. She was admitted to the United States Middle District Court in 2008 and the United States Supreme Court in 2017. In 2013, Ms. Arendas underwent a peer and judicial review, sat for the board certification exam and received board certification in Adoption by the Florida Bar. Ms. Arendas focuses her practice on adoption, surrogacy, family matters, guardianships and probate. She is a Fellow with the Academy of Adoption and Assisted Reproductive Attorneys. She served as the Executive Director of A Chosen Child, Inc (a licensed non-profit child-placing agency) from 2014 to 2017. She lectures on issues of adoption and surrogacy in workshops, seminars, meetings and in-service trainings. She loves to teach and has served as a guest lecturer and as an adjunct professor at Barry University Orlando School of Law. She also obtained certification as a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil Mediator in 2009 and has mediated matters involving foreclosure, debt collections, probate and adoption.
