Viviana Janer has dedicated her life to helping other people. Born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, and raised in New York City, Viviana came from humble beginnings. She worked her way through school and earned a Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in Public Accounting and later a Master of Business Administration with academic honors. She has more than 20 years of experience in corporate accounting. Viviana has been an Osceola County resident and homeowner for over 15 years, and it was here that she found her passion for serving the people of Osceola County.

Viviana is the First Hispanic Woman to serve on the Osceola Board of County Commissioners. A lifelong Democrat, she was elected to the Osceola County Commission in 2014 and in 2016 she served as Chairwoman of the Board. As your Commissioner, Viviana has championed the creation of affordable housing options so that residents have housing alternatives that fit their budgets. She has fought for the creation of high-paying jobs through educational opportunities, transportation improvements and economic development. Viviana is also passionate that residents have all the tools needed to achieve a healthier lifestyle and better quality of life.

The citizens of District 2 have not always received their fair share of County dollars. The area has repeatedly experienced flooding, a lack of recreational opportunity for families and has been overlooked when it came to transportation improvements. That has changed under Viviana’s leadership with over $36 Million invested! Viviana successfully insisted the County address flooding and significant improvements to sewer and drainage have been made with more planned over the next few years. Viviana has improved parks through partnerships and grant funding, some redesigned with new & additional equipment as well as improvement to recreational areas for adults with more improvements planned. Thanks to Viviana’s leadership, 44 miles of roadways have been resurfaced on district 2 County roads, with another 7.94 miles scheduled through the end of the year, significantly up from only 2 miles during 2014.  Orange Avenue has been widened, the intersection at Boggy Creek and Simpson road was redesigned, important traffic lights have been installed in busy intersections and the first phase of Simpson Road is now scheduled for widening.

For Viviana, being elected isn’t about a title it’s about leadership that improves the lives of the people of District 2 and all of Osceola. Commissioner Viviana Janer is the Chairman of Central Florida Commuter Rail Commission (i.e., SunRail), Chair of the Value Adjustment Board and Chair of the Tourism Development Council. Commissioner Janer also serves on LYNX, MetroPlan Orlando, the East Central Florida Regional Planning Council and the Lynx Oversight Board.

Since Viviana was elected in 2014, progress has been made but there is still much work to do. We hope you will support Viviana Janer to continue improving Osceola County for all!
